For those of you who remember back to the fall of 2002, you will know that that was when we last renewed our BIA Bylaw with the City of Penticton .

The Downtown Penticton Association has been extremely successful over the past five years and as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding.

Since our last renewal we have attracted over 100 new businesses into the downtown, our marketing program has won awards at a provincial level and Downtown Penticton was listed as the best place to walk & shop in the South Okanagan in Okanagan Life magazine.

With this great momentum it is it is our intention to renew the Downtown Penticton Association BIA Bylaw for another five years. Information packages highlighting our many programs and success stories from the past five years have been distributed to downtown merchants and property owners and the City of Penticton has sent renewal packages to property owners this month.

Congratulations to the City of Penticton on acquiring land for a new Performing Arts Facility. Current Board Member and pastpresident of the DPA, Cliff Bristow, has recently been elected to the board of the Penticton and District Performing Arts Facilities Society. Cliff’s involvement will surely create a solid relationship between the Society and our organization.

I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the many women and men who have volunteered their time over the years on our Board of Directors and at key events.

It is those people that get involved who make downtown vibrant and welcoming.

We are very pleased to welcome Linda Toker as the new Marketing and Event Coordinator for the Downtown Penticton Association. Linda joins us from Beaumont , Alberta and has spent the last 8 years as the Marketing and Event Liaison in Beaumont ’s Economic Development Department. She will be a great addition to our team.
